Subject: Increasing road accidents in metropolitan cities.
Dear Sir,
Through the column of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the general public towards the daily increase in the number of road accidents. It is not a hidden fact that traffic in metropolitan cities due to several reasons are life-threatening to the people.
A large number of people are at death’s door due to rash driving, not following traffic rules, not wearing helmets/seat belts, bad roads, encroachment of footpaths and many more.
A lot of these mishaps can be circumvented with a few simple measures. Police patrolling needs to be increased in accident-prone zones and speed breakers are a must before zebra crossings. High penalty for breaking signals, not wearing helmets/seat belts and driving without a license. Roads need to be repaired every year. Serious action should be taken towards illegal encroachment of footpaths forcing pedestrians to walk on roads. Regular awareness programmes should be organized.
I would appreciate it if you could please take up this issue and publish it in your newspaper to create awareness.
Thanking you
Arun Mondal
