Sample Answer 1:

I agree that money plays a very important role in life. In the World, we are living in today money, but that doesn’t mean that it should prime factor while choosing our career. Choosing a career is a long-term investment that should take a lot of things into consideration, monetary returns are just one aspect of it. Choosing a career just because it is monetary rewarding can surely give happiness for the short term but if we don’t like what we do for our living we may get stuck into something that we don’t even enjoy.

Choosing a career is a very big decision in our lives. We should keep in my a lot of things where money and passion are the main two things. We need to find a balance between money and passion. Pursuing something where our passion lies has a lot of perks to itself.

There is nothing more intriguing than waking up every day to do something that makes our creative juices flow and is something that we look forward to working towards with zeal. When if the monetary rewards are small, the internal rewards will be far more worth it.

Most of the time when we value money over passion we end in a job where the work becomes a monotonous daily duty and we just do our work like robots in order to get home and wait for the vicious cycle to start again the next day. Pursuing something where our passion lies makes the work we do a journey full of excitement and fulfillment. Doing something that feels forced onto us is not at all a pleasant feeling. Money can buy a comfortable car and home for sure but it cant buy a comfortable mind. Time is the most important resource that we have, we must not waste it doing something that doesn’t make us happy. It is important for us to understand that decisions about our career should be taken very practically, money and passion should both be taken into consideration. While pursuing our passion the money aspect of it should be kept in mind, it needs to pay enough so that it doesn’t sacrifice our financial independence. Also when we do something we love, working hard for it is less of a burden and more of a journey that we will enjoy.

The bottom line is we all want a life that we can say is well lived. The important thing is that we all enjoy what we do and work hard towards achieving our goals.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it, keep looking. Don’t settle.” – Steve Jobs (Founder of Apple Computer)

“I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” – Albert Einstein

Whether to choose passion over money or money over passion is completely an individual choice. It depends on what goals you have set for yourself in life. The best example is Lt. Lata Mangeshkar who lived her passion all her life. If she would have taken up any other career option, she surely wouldn’t be able to make this big. The same goes with the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. If he would have sacrificed his passion for cricket and taken up another career, the world would have missed out on the best batsman in cricketing history.

When you have to choose a career option between the one that is monetarily rewarding and the other one where you have to let go of monetary rewards and follow your passion, you need to first evaluate the pros and cons of both options. Let’s start with the first option and assess both sides of it. Firstly, it is monetarily rewarding, there is no denying the fact that money plays a very imperative role in today’s uncertain world. Along with today, we need to have enough to be prepared for tomorrow. Then comes the work profile. In every job profile, some bits and pieces aren’t as per your likings. You need to gauge if the work that you will be doing is at least as per your interest if not passion. It is not obligatory that the work needs to be 100 per cent as per your preference, but if it holds a decent amount of your interest it is not a bad option. You should be able to do it in the long run and provide basic work satisfaction to not carry you to the level of stress and depression.

On the other hand, it will be absurd to only think of monetary gains and ignore your passion. If you are really passionate about something then compromising other things for it will not be tough for you. You might be earning less than others but the pleasure and work satisfaction you feel at the end of the day will know no bounds. Even the work pressure will be a pleasurable experience. You will be more than happy to put in an extra inch for that feeling of fulfilment.

It is very important to evaluate if you possess sufficient skills to make your passion a sensible career option. There is a fine line between hobby and taking it up as your career. Sometimes it is just a well made up dream in your mind. Getting no result from passion can be severely disheartening as one starts questioning his own capabilities and decisions. Just as passion can motivate, lack of success can be lead to the feeling of demotivation and leave the feeling of poor decision making. So if you plan to select passion over a career option that is monetarily rewarding you have to be clear about your capabilities to make a decent earning from it so that you are financially stable.

To wind it up, choosing passion is the best option if you are ready to make monetary sacrifices and go out of your comfort zone and routine life and dare to make a difference.

If there are no monetary impediments, why not follow your passion and feel content about your work at the end of the day?

Benjamin Franklin has perfectly quoted “If passion drives you, let reasons hold the reins.”
