Subject: Increasing crime rates against people of Northeast.
Dear Sir,
Through the column of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to throw light on the increasing crime rates against people of Northeast. This is happening mostly in cities.
People from the Northeast fear moving to cities due to increasing violence, racial comment, brutal attacks against their community. The so-called educated class are the first one in the row to hurt the feelings of their fellow citizen who are equal contributors to the economy and hold the right to study, work, settle and entertain themselves like anyone else. The rude behaviour has caused disharmony and ultimately it dents the image of our country. Resultantly we have recently seen the death of a young student which is not at all acceptable.
Serious steps need to be taken to curb this nuisance. Government should take stringent action against those held guilty of practising such antisocial activities. At the same time, the general public should be aware that these are our very own fellow Indian citizens and should be given equal opportunities and encourage them to reside safely anywhere they wish to.
Thanking you
Aanchal Mehta
