The Sun Essay in English

The Sun is a stara gigantic ball of burning gas comprising hydrogen and helium. It has been shining for about five billion years. The Sun’s surface is around 6,000 degrees Celsius, and its core is even hotter.

The Sun is also worshiped as God in some cultures. In Indian mythology, it holds a very significant place.

The Sun is the center of the Solar System. The Solar System includes the family of eight planets orbiting the Sun along with countless smaller bodies like moons of these planets, dwarf planets, asteroids, comets, and bits of space rocks. The powerful gravitational pull of the Sun prevents these surrounding bodies from flying off into the deepest space.

It is an interesting fact that the Sun is not the same color all over. Some spots are cooler than others. These spots look little but grow as large as Jupiter, the biggest planet in the Solar System.

The Sun’s rays take eight minutes to reach the Earth. It carries with itself the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. It can cause severe skin burns and damage our eyes. Even sunglasses are not complete protection for our eyes. Overexposure to the Sun can cause skin problems. We should use sunscreen lotions to protect ourselves from harmful rays.

The Sun’s rays contain Vitamin D which is very essential for healthy bones and muscles. This is very important because we do not get Vitamin D from any food item. Early morning sun’s rays are the best.

We can use the heat of the Sun in the form of Solar Energy in industries to save electricity, solar cookers to cook food, solar heaters to heat water, and many more.

Sun never goes out, it’s always there. Though there is a special scenario where the Sun is not visible in the daytime. This is when the total solar eclipse happens. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon comes in between the sun and the earth, blocking it out partially or completely, leading to a partial or total solar eclipse. This results in parts of the earth being covered in the moon’s shadow for some time.

What an incredible star!
