Children are the country’s most valuable fixed deposits that will give unexpected returns at the time of maturity. Children are the future stars of the nation. The face of the country’s future depends on how they nurture their children.
As a child my contribution to the country will start by creating awareness among people around me, (family, friends, society, etc.,) about the qualities that would make the person honest, humble, encourage them to maintain proper hygiene, avoid littering, segregating waste, stand against corruption, etc. An educated mind is more important than a specialised educated mind. It is essential to strive to achieve self-indulgence to reduce the burden on the country.
I would encourage my peers to donate their last year’s academic books to poor children who give up education owing to financial issues. This will reduce their monetary burden to some extent. I would also ask my friends to collect storybooks and reference books from their society and plan to set up a free mobile library in the park once a week where kids who cannot afford to buy these books can get their hand on them. I would give in special effort to educate my maid or her kids or anyone who wishes to learn. If every family takes up this challenge to educate one, it would make a huge difference to the literacy rate of the country. Not only education, but several life skills can also be taught to them which would make them financially independent. This would help in bridging the gaps between children of different classes.
There are many other innovative ways to bring a change, like on birthdays I would gift plants to my friends and inspire them to do the same. Every family member should take responsibility for one plant each. This will reduce a lot of encumbrance from the environment. I would love to distribute free paper bags made from newspapers and supply them to the nearby shops, this will help in plummeting the use of plastics. I will also keep aside some portion of my pocket money and use it at a place that would make a difference in society. I would also plan workshops where I would encourage people to either walk to schools, offices or market place or use cycles or public transport and avoid using private vehicles as it increases a lot of pollution and is also not economical. I will organize skits on the road to create traffic awareness and curb littering issues. Small clubs can be made that can take charge and work towards materializing these ideas.
At the individual level, the most important contribution will be to inspire others and inculcate in others the feeling of doing something good for society that would in future be beneficial for the country as a whole. If every individual promises to abide by the basic habits our country will reach great heights.
