Children’s Day is celebrated every year in India on 14th November on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He used to love children and spend most of his free time with them. Therefore, after he died in 1964, his birthday is celebrated every year as Children’s day as a mark of tribute to his love towards children. He believed that each child is entitled to a fulfilled childhood comprising of love and education irrespective of any social or economic discrimination. 

Children’s day is celebrated worldwide on different dates but the quintessence remains the same. Children should get a well-deserved childhood. Globally Children’s Day is celebrated on 1st June. In some places, Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on 20th November every year.

The first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was adored by children. They used to fondly call him Chacha Nehru.
