Leadership is a vivacious management function that helps to undevout an organization’s resources for improved efficiency and achievement of goals. An efficient leader gives clarity of purpose to his team and at the same time escort and persuades them to apprehend its mission. To do so, a leader must have the potential to learn and teach. It is to be accepted that no one possesses complete knowledge on any subject and there is always something to learn. It is this greed to learn that should be incorporated in every leader. Irrespective of hierarchy, a leader should welcome knowledge from every spectrum. He is the one to bridge the gap between the mission and the team. A leader is not made in a day. He has reached this stage by several learnings from his seniors and learning by obeying their instructions. The initial learning stage of every career is mainly observing and obeying. With regular practice and understanding, one learns and masters the art.

A leader should always lead by example. It is the moral obligation of every leader to obey. He should follow all the commands and guidance directed towards him that would lead towards the attainment of organizational goals. A leader should be open to giving instructions and at the same time taking instructions.

Contrary to the above theories, a leader is a leader because he holds that spark and is embedded with qualities of confidence, empathy, creativity, innovation, delegation, accountability, and many more. Sometimes it is more important to trust these qualities of yours than to blindly obey others. It is important to attain goals through your ideologies and vision. This is the essence of true leadership. It makes no sense to trust others and achieve your goals. It will not give you work satisfaction at the end of the day even if your targets are achieved.

‘A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.’ – Douglas Arthur

Sample Answer 2:

We all live different lives and have our own stories to progress in every day. In trying to find our purpose in life, we hope to understand our life in a better way. In this process, we come across some people and their ideology, which often makes us believe that the road they have taken will also take us to the way of success. It will take us close to what it feels like to be a good leader and to understanding the team better. But it is rightly said that every coin has two sides. Indeed, in my opinion, the following statement is both right and wrong, and is very situational.

As a leader, there are a few ideologies and processes we hope and believe would work for us too, as it worked for others, but we forget how our behaviour and human nature can never be the same as others, even from the ones who succeeded. We need to trust our instincts at times as a leader, because it is not only about a few rules that would result in being one, it is very subjective and we need to be more aware to be a leader. As a leader, you know your work place, your environment, your team mates, and every minute detail about and around your workplace, which will help you in taking the right decision and further process.

However, the statement is important too because there are indeed many unsaid rules which need to be followed as a leader.

First being navigating your organisation. Before taking any decision as a leader, it is important to know your surroundings, organisation, its working and motives from the heart. Another important thing as a leader is to build an unconventional relationship with the people around you. When we are close and understand the problems of the people working around us, we give them a chance to improve rather than impose the work on them. It is important to understand who can do what and what they are capable of doing. Finally, it is important to think independently and believe in our own abilities. To be a better leader one day, there are some basic rules we need to acknowledge and obey.

Sample Answer 3:

Leadership is a very complex role, it involves traits where it is required to be both rigid and flexible at the same time. Leading a team is a job that requires a lot of patience, strategic thinking, and responsibility. In my opinion, the above statement is both right and wrong depending on the situation. When a person is in a position of responsibility it is important they abide by some ideals and rules to manage a team of individuals from different backgrounds. At the same time, a good leader needs to be considerate and innovative so that in times of emergency they are to change the plans and work with the situation.

The process of becoming a good leader requires a lot of learning and teaching.Successful leaders focus on the big picture, avoid distractions, and don’t get bogged down by small, tactical details. Being selfless and giving time to improve the skills of other members on their team. Setting boundaries between personal and professional lives. Being open to new ideas, possibilities, and perspectives, and understanding .Leaders must be able to listen, observe, and be willing to change course when necessary. For this they should have an ability to be flexible with schedules. Obedience is an important part of being a leader, although it shouldn’t become a factor that makes the process of decision making rigid rather flexible and efficient. Being a good listener and learner is a quality that makes a huge difference, today everyone has something to say but nobody is ready to listen to other people’s opinion. So being able to take other’s opinion and learn something from that is a great attribute to hold.

Apart from that, every leader is unique with their way of leading a team but one thing they all have in common is putting their team first rather than themselves.
