A leader always motivates everybody around him or her to go to places that were unvisited before. It requires a lot of gut to be able to play well in that zone.
Also, when you are assigned to the position of a leader, you need to maintain a good sense of responsibility and should always be ready to take up new challenges as well.
According to me, being a leader is not a cup of tea for everyone. You need to be very upfront or rather steady, and always be prepared to take risks, whereas, being a member of that group will lead you to stay behind the scenes and watch your role being played by somebody else. Sometimes, being a member gradually leads you to escape your responsibility. Also, a person will never be able to comprehend his or her skills if they do not give them a try.
So, being a leader is a challenging role. A leader does not depend upon the people to act, they do not complain and expect anything in return. he or she rather goes on to make his or his destiny and people, gradually, follow them.
But a leader must also try to understand the other people, if something goes wrong, he or she should try to understand the situation rather than complain or show a haughty temperament will not work. In this way, he or she might even lose position. So, to be a good leader, one has to be very calm and understanding too.
In conclusion, I would like to say, that both leader and follower are an intrinsic part of a community, and without the other one, one cannot live. In a sense, they both are co-dependent on each other. But if, given a choice, I would say, that being a leader, is a great way to follow one’s passion. If you develop leadership qualities, you will be able to live up to your terms because you are putting in extra effort to walk out of your comfort zone, which will pay you in the future.
